Motorhomes - Choice by Price

The main factors leading to a buying decision may be many when it come to buying your perfect motorhome, but what limits these factors is just one basic constraint and that is budget. Here at The Insurance Factory we do love our motorhomes so we are looking at the market available to your budget when buying new. There is a great variety out there in the marketplace which offer many numerous options. Hence, there are a few basic questions that every buyer should ask before they start searching out for their desirable motorhome, no matter the budget. They include:

  • What size of vehicle is required?
  • What is the maximum budget?
  • Are you concerned about the internal layout of the vehicle or can you forgo it for more space?

Once you know the answers of these basic questions, you can narrow your search down to your ideal motorhome. Then there are other long-term considerations like fuel efficiency and durability of the marque you go for. But since there is a great deal of variety, you have ample options to find the best fit for your needs.

Less than £30k

This is a very limited budget for which you cannot buy a brand new motorhome. You have to let that wish go if you have a small budget but you need not to worry because there are several used vehicles in the market which are in good mechanical and physical conditions available for sale. But the physical and mechanical conditions of the vehicle are more important and the following factors determine the price of the vehicle.

  1. The number of miles it has done.
  2. The make and model of the motorhome.
  3. The warranty that is left on it.
  4. The type of motorhome.
  5. Condition

A careful analysis of the second-hand market shows that the low-profile and over-cab coach built are within this range of budget and its understandable because these two have a greater resale value. They have generally travelled a fair amount of mileage. The motorhomes of older models have generally travelled more; this is why you will see 60,000 mile motorhome cost a lot less. Potentially you may have to deal with issues with the interior.

Between £30 – 50k

In this range you have plenty of vehicles to choose from. From £30k to £45k, you can get the low-profile and the over-cab coach build vehicles. Within this range you will find many motorhomes ideal for the family, you can also get very high-end two berth omes at this price point. The over-cab and low profiles lying in this range often have all the essentials of a house with a shower and toilet cubicle, But they are not of the ultra premium quality within the higher price range. As the range increases over £45k the vehicles tend to have better chassis and equipment levels. Some good quality micro motorhomes can also be bought in this range. Furthermore, some A-class second hand vehicles can be bought at this budget, however many go a new ones because the A-class is notorious for having a higher fuel consumption compared to over-cab coach built motorhomes, not to mention higher motorhome insurance costs.

£50k – £100k

Within this range, you can bag yourself the best motorhome in town. You can essentially buy the best A-class vehicle with excellent engine, matching chassis, leather interior, full kitchenette with adjacent diner, shower room, incredibly integrated cab area, this is really the most spacious and exclusive vehicle at this budget. Besides this, the outlook of the vehicle is also better in this range with alloy rims coupled with a sleek design. These vehicles also have superior design with fine ventilation and have a bespoke water heating system. This range also has some excellent low-profile and over-cab coach built, some of which are just too good that you might rank them among the A-class vehicles. You can get a perfect, spacious and fully loaded motorhome in the low £70,000, if however you want to have every conceivable extra then this is where it can add up and before you know you will be looking at a £100k mobile home on wheels.
